In the November issue of the Journal of Ethnicity in Criminal Justice, a study by Robert Adelman with Lesley Williams Reid of the University of Alabama; Gail Markle of Kennesaw State University; Charles Jaret of Georgia State University; and Saskia Weiss, an independent scholar, provides insight that would make Conservatives scramble for some alternative facts.
The study took a different approach when exploring the immigrant and crime rate increase propaganda. While many studies use individual immigrants, they chose to explore what would happen if immigrants moved into an area in large numbers, and if that could be tied to an increase in crime.
The study took it a step further and investigated if the crime increased due to changes in the cities, such as fewer economic opportunities or job displacement.
200 metropolitan areas were used with data from a 40-year period of 1970-2010. The data was provided by the U.S. Census and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The results would make Trump’s head explode.
The study found no links between the two but in fact, found that immigration appears to lead to a reduction in some types of crime. Crimes such as larcenies with and without weapons, assault, and murder are lower in places where immigration levels are most condensed.
“We are not claiming that immigrants are never involved in crime. What we are explaining is that communities experiencing demographic change driven by immigration patterns do not experience significant increases in any of the kinds of crime we examined. And in many cases, crime was either stable or actually declined in communities that incorporated many immigrants.” stated Adelman.
While the relationship between the two variables is complex; it does, in fact, support other findings that immigrants as a whole, have a positive effect on American social and economic life.
You may wonder why conservatives place such a high emphasizes when immigrants break the law. The answer is simple — they need fear in order to control the masses.
Republicans understand how to utilize fear as a weapon in order to encourage uneducated voters to sway their way.
