On August 12, a rally is scheduled for everyone’s favorite hate group: White supremacists. Set in Virginia at the park where earlier this year, photos of them with torches at another nighttime rally went viral across the internet, the city of Charlottesville actually rescinded the organizers’ permit unless they moved the event to a different park that would accommodate the number of attendees they were expecting. It’s only about enough to fill half the bleachers in my high school gym, but still.
“Unite the Right” organizer Jason Kessler was understandably upset when he found out they wouldn’t legally be allowed to hold the rally in what his group is still calling Lee Park (but was renamed Emancipation Park back in June), because of course the statue his Nazi fellows are “defending” is in the original location. Kessler vowed to keep the rally exactly where they’d planned it.
But the real offense to these ninny Nazis was that they may have no place to stay, should they venture out of their mothers’ basements. In keeping with their established policy that “those who are members of the Airbnb community accept people regardless of their race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age,” the global home-sharing service is deactivating the accounts of those they suspect are booking in order to go to the rally.
Now they’ve gone too far for these scary, scary “civil rights activists.”
Looks like Airbnb is permanently deactivating the account of anyone booking a room in Charlottesville if they think it’s for the rally. Gay! pic.twitter.com/O1NTzwWpuu

If your Airbnb account is linked to your edgelord Facebook, expect cancellations and an account ban for Charlottesville.

Poor Nazis. I sincerely hope they find someplace to stay while they dehumanize entire groups of people under the guise of “political views.” Preferably in a jail cell, for violating the city’s permitting guidelines.
