If you ever listened to a Republican during President Obama’s two terms in office, they would have tried to convince you that he is the most dangerous <insert noun here>, that has ever existed in America. Words like Socialist, Communist, Muslim, homosexual, atheist, Marxist, Nazi, and terrorist have all been used to describe him – and that is an extremely shortened list. Republicans have accused Obama of everything from staging mass shootings during his presidency, to aiding terrorists in attacking America. Hell, they even blamed him for Bush’s botched response to Hurricane Katrina.
This is not a uniquely American experience. U.S. media is one of our biggest exports, and the hate, bile and racism that have been directed towards President Obama has been rebroadcast everywhere else in the world as well. Practically every single person in every other nation knows of Obama, and thanks to places like Fox News, they also know the incredible amount of hostility he and his family had to personally deal with every single day of his presidency.
Richard Brunt of Victoria, British Columbia, decided that he had heard quite enough of this nonsense. He penned an open letter to Americans, completely schooling Obama’s haters by making them aware they just have no clue what they are talking about.
Listing a long line of accomplishments made by Obama, he contrasted it briefly with the most spectacular failure of a presidency in history – George W. Bush – then asked how in the world we could have voted for Republicans again.
Many of us Canadians are confused by the U.S. midterm elections. Consider, right now in America, corporate profits are at record highs, the country’s adding 200,000 jobs per month, unemployment is below 6%, U.S. gross national product growth is the best of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries.
The dollar is at its strongest levels in years, the stock market is near record highs, gasoline prices are falling, there’s no inflation, interest rates are the lowest in 30 years, U.S. oil imports are declining, U.S. oil production is rapidly increasing, the deficit is rapidly declining, and the wealthy are still making astonishing amounts of money.
America is leading the world once again and respected internationally — in sharp contrast to the Bush years. Obama brought soldiers home from Iraq and killed Osama bin Laden. So, Americans vote for the party that got you into the mess that Obama just dug you out of? This defies reason.”
When you are done with Obama, could you send him our way?
He is 100 percent correct. Apathetic voters coupled with “Democratic” candidates that ran away from Obama’s accomplishments were the cause of these problems. It got us nothing but votes for more war and profits for billionaires, with less help for the poor and sick. What would be just great, is if Democrats voted like their lives depended on it in every election because when it comes to Republicans – they do.
