I’ll be the first to say I wouldn’t pay a dime for the music produced by the USA Freedom Kids, but that’s ok because I didn’t make a deal to pay them for a gig. But, you know who did? Donald Trump.
In January, the USA Freedom Kids performed a creepy song and dance routine that was straight out of a propagandist’s playbook at Trump’s Pensacola, Florida rally. It had it all. Cute kids, flashy dresses, children’s voices singing in unison in a pre-recorded performance – it was sooooo Trump!
You know what else is very Trump? Not paying people. News broke recently that he basically just stiffed the little girls. In lieu of payment, the group was promised a table for album pre-sales. It was never provided. Now, they are planning to sue Trump.
Last night on The Late Show, Stephen Colbert introduced us to a new group of performers: The USA Freedom Grown-ups. They are clearly inspired by the USA Freedom Kids.
You may remember the USA Freedom Kids performed at a Trump rally earlier this year and their music sounded like a bald eagle marching on a Casio keyboard.
Colbert said he wanted to hold Trump accountable and get his attention. With these lyrics, he just might:
Donald Trump. Are you serious? Ripping off some little girls. That’s scandalous. Don’t be such a douche. Pay your I-O-Youche. Big orange coward feel our righteous wrath.
Tiny heart! Tiny hands! What kind of monster will not pay a children’s band. That might be your real hair, but you’re a billionaire. Pay people what they’ve earned and release your tax returns. Jerk!
The song is on point and covers all the Trump buzz words: douche, orange, tiny hands. . . jerk. It’s perfect!
It’s quite catchy, really.
