Despite how tough Donald Trump wants the world to think he is, his immature reactions to criticism tell a completely different story – and his son, Eric, just revealed just how serious Trump’s sensitivity to criticism is in a revealing interview.
On Tuesday, Eric went on The Joe Pags Show, and told the world just how fragile his father is. Apparently, Trump is incapable of considering any form of criticism – constructive or not – because otherwise he will get depressed and want to commit suicide.
During the interview, Trump’s son stated that “politics is the nastiest business I’ve ever seen” because Trump is constantly surrounded by criticism. Eric said:
I mean, just the evilness and the hatred in that world is unlike anything I could have fathomed before. And no matter what he does, they’re going to hit him on it and they’re going to go after him, and it’s the swamp and it’s a corrupt system.
It’s the media, the mainstream media, who does not want him to succeed. It’s government who does not want him to succeed… No matter what he does, he’s going to get hit, and listen, I think you have to tune it out. You obviously have to be tuned into it, but at the same time you have to take it all with a grain of salt.”
It’s almost as if Trump thought that the role of being President of the United States was actually going to be easy! Eric continued, revealing that having people criticize him would make Trump depressed:
If they weren’t talking about you, you wouldn’t be doing something right and it’s important to keep it in context, otherwise quite frankly you’d probably end up killing yourself out of depression. But he’s doing a great job.”
Now, of course, depression and ending one’s life is an extremely serious issue. Trump, who already shows signs of serious mental instability, (rightfully) warrants a lot of negative feedback because he’s doing such a horrendous job. But if Trump is so emotionally and mentally sensitive that he cannot take even the most useful and well-meaning advice, he will never become a better leader. Already, Trump’s administration and the GOP has been catering to his easy-to-shatter ego and the country has suffered tremendously for it. A president with closed ears cannot serve the people.
Another notable part of the interview is where Eric insists his father isn’t racist because he hires minorities. Eric said:
“There is no racist bone in my father’s body. He is the greatest guy in the world.”
