And the Internet nailed him to the wall for it.
For years, production companies have been bringing Shakespeare’s play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar to the stage with modern references by replacing Caesar with contemporary political leaders such as Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair.
The play is anti-assassination and warns of the dangers of employing such an undemocratic method of removing politicians from power. But it only became controversial earlier this year when New York’s Shakespeare in the Park’s adaptation featured Donald Trump. Conservatives immediately howled and whined and claimed that liberals are encouraging violence against Trump.
However, conservatives didn’t mind at all when President Obama was featured in the play back in 2012. That’s right. Conservatives are hypocrites. And Fox News host Sean Hannity made an ass of himself on Sunday by suggesting that President Obama had never been featured in the play.
In response to Ben Shapiro, Hannity said that calling conservatives stupid for protesting the play is hypocritical because liberals would be protesting if President Obama were in it instead of Trump.
Now if there was a play that killed an Obama look alike every night and people protested, would u call that stupid? This hate is disgusting https://t.co/T0UwRRlrQJ

Except that President Obama was featured in the play way back in 2012. And it was not controversial at all. Nobody protested. That’s because it is a play. The production is not calling for assassination like conservatives want us to believe. It’s warning against it.
Hannity’s tweet quickly gained the attention of Twitter users, who proceeded to mock him and educate him.
Interrupting an event screaming like a crazy person is not a “protest,” dear.

In 2012, Shakespeare in the Park put on Julius Caesar with an Obama-like lead. It’s an anti-assassination play, good friend.

A production of Julius Caesar DID show an Obama look alike being killed. Liberals didn’t care. Conservatives called it amazing.

There was one in 2012.

What a dumbsh*t. Doesn’t he have staff that researches this stuff. No wonder their rating are so low.

And Sean Hannity wonders why people want Fox News to fire him.
