On Labor Day, Vice President Joe Biden and VP candidate Tim Kaine spoke together in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and gave one of the most epic anti-Trump attack speeches we’ve seen so far. It’s possible that after watching this, you’ll think that Biden might actually hate Trump more than you do.
Biden spent much of his speech sticking up for America’s working class – something that Trump obviously knows nothing about. Taking full advantage of the opportunity to attack the Republican nominee and one-percent business owners like him, Biden unleashed a rant that he’d probably been holding in for way too long. Biden said:
Know that there’s so many people like Trump who look at us like we’re not their equal. I’m sick of it. I’ve had it up to here. Back 10 years ago when I spoke to the AFL-CIO convention, I said, and I meant it, the American Chamber of Commerce has declared war on labor’s house. It’s been an unrelenting war. They see their success, and so does he, in your demise. Not a joke. It’s about time we all woke up.
Biden has been involved with the labor movement for a long time. He’s supported the movement and the United Auto Workers was the first to endorse him when he ran for Senate. Trump, on the other hand, has employed undocumented workers yet has an immigration policy that involves building a wall and deporting them.
Biden continued, stating the importance of stopping Trump, and that a new way is needed to move America forward. Fully aware that Trump would destroy the economy in mere months, Biden said:
Ladies and gentlemen, it is about time we stop apologizing for anything, for anything at all. I am so tired of the fact that the Chamber of Commerce, even some Democrats tip-toe around organized labor, unions. Because look, think about where we are. When the recession hit this guy and I spent a lot of time all around the country, and who did the labor busters successfully blame for the recession? They blamed it on unions and THEY WON! THEY WON! They convinced the state of Wisconsin that the reason schools were failing were unions!
The VP reminded Americans just what was at stake with Trump running for office, and what this could mean for labor at various parts in his speech. Trump was definitely Biden’s favorite topic, and he just couldn’t help himself for giving voters reason after reason why Trump needs to disappear:
Ladies and gentlemen, look. Here we are. We got a guy running for president of the United States. We have a case in the Supreme Court that, but for one vote, will fundamentally limit your right to organize.”
“He really does believe that workers make too much. He really does believe that the problem is American workers are lazy. He – no, I mean, really. For real. Everything – he really does believe that he does not have an obligation to his subcontractors. For real. He thinks that’s an appropriate way to do business.”
“We can’t let this happen. We can’t elect a man who belittles our closest allies and embraces Vladimir Putin, a man who seeks to sow division among our allies for his own gain and disorder around the world.”
“It’s time we get out of our own way and get Trump out of the way and elect this guy and Hillary Clinton president and vice president of the United States of America.”
Not that we blame him. In closing his brutal speech, Biden called on voters to “Demand anybody you vote for speak up, demand they do what Hillary is doing. Make sure, folks, that we are waking up.”
