Former reality television star Donald Trump is now officially going to be the next President of the United States, and while he may have gotten through his presidential campaign without outlining any clear policies, that’s not going to fly as he gets closer to his start date.
Trump has just recently started to outline his national security objectives, and a leaked memo obtained by Foreign Policy magazine confirms that Trump’s more specific plans are going to be just as disappointing as his non-specific ones. It turns out, there’s something REALLY important missing from Trump’s objectives. See if you can find it in this snapshot:
If you look at Trump’s defense priorities, you’ll notice something peculiar. There is ZERO mention of Russia or Vladimir Putin, even despite the recent CIA reports that Russia interfered with the US election to help Trump win. What a “coincidence.”
Foreign Policy pointed out just how big of a threat Russia is – which is exactly why it SHOULD be on Trump’s list:
“Top cabinet officials at the Defense Department and the intelligence community cited Russia as the foremost threat because of its vast nuclear arsenal, sophisticated cyber capabilities, recently modernized military, and willingness to challenge the United States and its allies in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and other regions.”
Putin is dangerous – and Trump has made it perfectly clear that he admires his strength and likely looks up to the authoritarian leader. By not putting Russia on his security radar, he is not only putting America at risk, but he is also encouraging suspicion that something shady is going on between him and Putin.
Once again, Trump has disappointed the country. Never in the history of America have we had a future President do so much to disrespect the country he is going to lead.
Trump is already shaping up to be just as much of a dictator as Putin, and his clear admiration of the Russian leader and unwillingness to hold him accountable for his actions is disgraceful. Trump’s presidency is going to be nothing but demoralizing and deadly – and Putin is quickly learning what the next President’s weaknesses are.
