Donald Trump had himself a heck of a day. After his rally in St. Louis nearly erupted into a race riot, he moved on to Chicago where tensions ran so high he had to abandon all hope of even holding an event, opting instead to cut and run, leaving thousands of angry supporters and protesters to fend for themselves in a volatile situation he created with months of incendiary speeches.
After Trump called just about every news organization on the planet to blame President Obama for the hate he inspires in his supporters, Rachel Maddow decided to put together a brilliant segment outlining, with date stamps, just how Trump has controlled the managed evolution of a deliberate movement of hate. From the time Trump realized his followers were stupid enough to do his egomaniacal bidding, he has been on a mission to “strengthen” America by having large groups of white people bully and manhandle minorities and anyone at his rallies who disagrees with him.
This is, of course, the natural progression of fascism. History has seen it time and time again, remembering it with such infamous names as Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini and Idi Amin. Trump may take pride in being associated with such lunatics, but as Rachel Maddow points out, these aren’t fringe meetings of 1980s skinheads or Klan gatherings of the 1960s, these are rallies of the frontrunner of the Republican party. This is GOP national politics in action and it is terrifying.
