Much of the mystery surrounding Melania Trump, the Slovenian-born First Lady of the United States, centers on whether or not she ever wanted to be in the position she now finds herself in to begin with.
It’s not like she’s shy or anything — she made her way when she came to this country as a model, both for clothing and for, uh… Unclothed affairs. But being First Lady comes with a level of responsibility that most people would be understandably reluctant to take on, and Melania had some big shoes to fill, whether they were a designer brand or not.
The fact that Melania took so long after the election to even join her husband Donald in Washington, D.C. did nothing to quell doubts that she was not mentally ready to jump into a position previously held by women who will be remembered throughout history — most recently Michelle Obama, possibly the most popular and successful First Lady of all time.
It also didn’t help matters that there was widespread speculation after Trump’s swearing-in ceremony that she was trapped in a situation that she visibly did not love:

That short clip began the #FreeMelania movement that persists to this day.
Now, a friend interviewed by Vanity Fair magazine has told America the truth about Melania’s attitude toward the White House: She never wanted to be there.
This isn’t something she wanted and it isn’t something [her husband] ever thought he’d win. She didn’t want this come hell or high water. I don’t think she thought it was going to happen.”
Mrs. Trump, who declined to be interviewed for the profile, publicly disputed it after it was published on Sunday. Or did she? It was a spokeswoman, not Melania herself, who delivered the First Lady’s official statement to CNN (that network her husband hates):

One thing’s for certain, though. If Melania Trump has a shred of dignity left after however long Trump survives the investigations that will eventually oust him from government forever, she should get as far away from him as she can, as fast as possible.

Andrew hates long walks on the beach, glitter, and men’s rights activists. He can usually be found with his long-suffering wife, who can usually be found asking him to please not order onions on that burger, babe.
