Today marks day 16 of Donald Trump not giving a sh*t about the four Green Berets who were killed in an ambush in the West African country of Niger. President Bone Spurs was golfing at the time and has remained silent over their deaths until today. Trump was asked about that on Monday and said that former President Barack Obama did not call the families of soldiers who had died in combat.
“The traditional way, if you look at President Obama and other presidents, most of them didn’t make calls, a lot of them didn’t make calls,” Trump said at an impromptu presser in the White House Rose Garden. “I like to call when it’s appropriate when I think I’m able to do it.”
When pressed about his claim, Trump said “I don’t know if he did.”
“I was told that he didn’t often,” Trump said. “A lot of presidents don’t, they write letters. I do a combination of both.”
Trump later said that he thinks Obama “did sometimes [call], and sometimes he didn’t, I don’t know, that’s what I was told.”

Several top Obama aides called Trump out over his false claim.
“This is an outrageous and disrespectful lie even by Trump standards,” former Obama foreign policy adviser Ben Rhodes said. “Also: Obama never attacked a Gold Star family.”

Former White House communications director and Obama senior advisor Dan Pfeiffer weighed in with some choice words for Trump.
Trump is a deeply disturbed ignoramus who is a pathological liar, but Mitch McConnell is cool with it cuz tax cuts or something https://t.co/8GwjnD3t9b

Alyssa Mastromonaco, who served as a deputy chief of staff under former President Barack Obama, tweeted, “That’s a f*cking lie. To say President Obama (or past presidents) didn’t call the family members of soldiers KIA – he’s a deranged animal.”

When asked to clarify his remarks, Trump said it was something heard about but offered no proof and apparently doesn’t know how to Google.
