On Saturday night, The New York Times released Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s 1995 tax return after it showed up anonymously on their doorstep. The tax return showed that not only did the “billionaire” lose over $900 million, it also looks like he has skirted tax payments for at least 18 years. As soon as the taxes were leaked, Trump’s spin-team began hailing him a genius for screwing over the American people. Now, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is commenting and proving that he as big an asshat as we’ve always known.
During an interview with the Detroit Free Press while in Michigan on Monday, Ryan said,”I don’t think it’s that harmful,” that Trump has not paid any federal income taxes. He also when on to say that he doesn’t think the revelation will have a negative impact on the “billionaire’s” candidacy,”I don’t think it’s harmful. I think people who don’t like him are going to continue disliking him.” And like many of the Republicans who support The Donald, on Trump’s $915.7 million loss, Ryan claimed,”the numbers are big because he’s a multi-billionaire.”
It’s interesting that a party who claims to support the military, veterans and loves to wage war doesn’t see an issue with billionaires not paying the taxes that fund those things. Without taxpayer money the country would not be able to pay for military spending. Without taxes the country would not be able to pay for the medical care or education of veterans. Without taxes we wouldn’t be able to afford to pay the military industrial complex. And without tax dollars the country could definitely not satisfy the GOP’s bloodlust, we saw what happened when Bush tried. (Actually, maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad thing if we couldn’t fund the last two).
Literally everything the GOP “loves” is paid with money collected from citizens and Ryan thinks Trump isn’t harming the country or their party by manipulating how much he pays in taxes.
Ahhhhh…Republicans are a special kind of stupid, aren’t they?
