Did Republicans deliberately exclude people of color or are they really that discriminatory in their hiring practices?
In an image posted on Instagram on Saturday, House Speaker Paul Ryan posed for a selfie with a large body of Capitol Hill interns.
Just scan the photo below. Take a couple minutes. Do you notice anything?
If you answered “a lack of diversity” you are absolutely correct and you win the grand prize.
Okay, so there is no grand prize. But the fact remains that most of the men and women in that photo are white people. The only person of color in this photograph is a man with brown skin near the center. That’s it.
And Paul Ryan apparently didn’t think that this photograph would cause any trouble at all. And then the comments came pouring in.
One commenter wrote that “it is like Where’s Waldo!”
“Not representative of America,” wrote another.
Basically, people blasted the lack of diversity in the photo and mocked the GOP for claiming to be a diverse party.
Here’s are screenshots of the comments.
Paul Ryan should have thought twice before posting this photo on social media.
But just like Republicans are known for assembling committees that lack diversity, this is not that much of a surprise.
This is completely outrageous and is a perfect example of why Republicans need to be humiliatingly defeated in November on Election Day. They need to think about why they have become the party of old white people and need to change in order to attract a more diverse audience. Because the way the GOP is going, it’s going to go extinct without it.
