President Obama had some strong words about Donald Trump at a White House press conference this morning. Trump has made dubious claims suggesting our election system is “rigged” and riddled with “voter fraud” while campaigning for the U.S. Presidency.
There is absolutely no evidence that our electoral system is rigged or that voter fraud exists at levels that would impact election results, even though Donald Trump continues to claim there is massive fraud. Numerous studies and investigations have shown quite the opposite saying, fraud is extremely rare and happens at such a small rate that it doesn’t impact our national elections at all, and certainly not a presidential election.
First, President Obama explained just how preposterous these voter fraud allegations really are and added that the claims are irresponsible. Our entire political system is based upon the integrity of our elections – an integrity that is intact, regardless of how much doubt a sore loser places in the minds of those who follow him.
He then addressed Trump’s incessant accusations saying, “and by the way, doesn’t really show the kind of leadership and toughness you want out of a president. You start whining before the game’s even over? If whenever things are going badly for you, and you lose, you start blaming somebody else? Then you don’t have what it takes to be in this job.”
Can you imagine how the “Whiner-in-Chief” would handle the opposition faced while in the Oval Office?
Obama then reiterated how difficult it would be to rig a system that is so decentralized and involves such a large number of votes – it would be nearly impossible.
Then, he had a very special message for Donald Trump. The President of the United States said this is his advice for the Republican Presidential Candidate:
I’d advise Mr. Trump to stop whining and go try to make his case to get votes.”
How sad is it that Donald Trump needs such a scolding?
