Today, in “How Republicans can fix literally any problem with a gun…”
Joseph Mondello, A Republican lobbyist and self-proclaimed “communications expert,” was arrested after threatening to kill a Dell repair technician if he didn’t fix his computer immediately.
The repair technician arrived at Mondello’s Arlington, VA home around 11 am, and proceeded to investigate into the problem with the computer. After some testing, the technician informed Mondello that he would have to leave to get a part to fix the computer properly.
This is when all hell broke loose. Mondello flew into a rage and demanded that the computer would be fixed before the technician left. With the impossibility of this obvious to all except Mondello, the technician tried to explain why he had to leave, assuring him he would return to complete the repair.
Not to have his patriotism questioned, Mondello left the room and returned with a gun, telling the technician:
“I’m going to kill you slowly.”
Mondello’s wife heard the ruckus and came downstairs to see what was going on. When she saw what was happening, she stepped between the technician and her husband and this gave the tech the opportunity to flee.
Arlington County Police spokesperson Dustin Sternbeck, commented on the case:
The news “sent our subject over the edge,” said Dustin Sternbeck, Arlington County Police spokesman. “He became furious and clearly agitated,” telling the tech ”your’e not leaving this house until the computer is fixed.”
Mondello left the room and returned with what looked like a gun held at his side, and began pacing back and forth, said Sternbeck, telling the tech ”I’m going to kill you slowly.”
It’s unfortunate but not surprising. Give an overgrown Republican manchild a gun and he tries to “Second Amendment” every problem in his life from a broken computer to gum disease.
Mondello was arrested after SWAT was dispatched to his home. The gun turned out to be a replica so, in the end, Mondello didn’t exactly sacrifice himself for freedom. He was charged with abduction.
Police gave no update on the status of the computer.
