Donald Trump, America’s most ignorant public figure and all-around despicable human being, doesn’t always think before he speaks. For example, even though Trump and Muhammed Ali were fairly good friends in real life, Trump still found it fitting to demonize Ali’s religion, calling for a ban of all Muslim’s from the United States.
The hypocrisy is palpable.
Now that Ali has died, Trump has come under fire from not only boxing fans but people from all across the country who enjoyed Ali’s brand of logic and wit. For example, when he was asked by a reporter after 9/11 how he felt about the hijackers belonging to his religion, he responded with, “how do you feel about Adolf Hitler belonging to yours?” It was moments like those and inspirational quotes found in gyms and locker rooms around the world that made Ali as great a man outside the ring as we was with the gloves on.
Well shucks…Now Donald Trump is realizing that Ali wasn’t just a Muslim, he was a friend. He has requested that Ali’s friends and family overlook his incredible ignorance and allow him to attend his funeral. How he will be able to reconcile the fact that he spent time at an Islamic prayer service for the dead to the base of bigots he panders to is beyond comprehension, but most likely he will give them a load of crap about wearing earplugs or silently praying to “the real God” while Ali’s service was underway.
Ali supporters in Louisville weren’t thrilled about the news, according to Ali’s good friend Saliha Shakir, but in the end, Islam is about peace and unity, and Trump is welcome to attend. “None of us care for his rhetoric,” said Shakir, “but it’s what Ali would have wanted.”
That response is about as satisfying as it gets. Donald Trump will attend a Muslim funeral with the blessing of Muhammed Ali’s family and friends. Once again the people Trump denigrated turn out to be ten times classier than he’ll ever be.
