In the last several weeks, America has been dealt several major blows. With several life-threatening hurricanes and a very recent mass shooting, America needs a strong leader more than ever.
At this current moment, people are still fighting for their lives in Puerto Rico, and still reeling from the mass shooting that just happened in Las Vegas (which is the deadliest in U.S. history). And what is the President of the United States doing? Pretty much everything except dealing with these issues.
Instead of providing aid or guidance to American citizens or doing everything he can to support current initiatives, Trump is picking fights with NBC News on Twitter, demanding that the network apologize to him for reporting that his Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, called him a “moron.” Trump whined:
The @NBCNews story has just been totally refuted by Sec. Tillerson and @VP Pence. It is #FakeNews. They should issue an apology to AMERICA!”
What a child. Meanwhile, Tillerson refuses to deny that he ever called Trump a moron, even though he has responded to other things in the report like whether or not he was considering resignation. Tillerson said:
I’m not going to deal with petty stuff like that. I mean this is what I don’t understand about Washington. Again, I’m not from this place, but the places I come from, we don’t deal with that kind petty nonsense, and it’s intended to do nothing but divide people, and I’m just not going to be part of this effort to divide this administration.”
Apparently, as indicated by his recent tweet, Trump is all about dealing with that “petty nonsense.” Instead of focusing on real issues, Trump is going after the media again over the fact that someone called him a moron. This is a major abuse of leadership and clearly not what America needs right now.
