Donald Trump is once again attacking First Amendment rights, and Antonin Scalia is rolling in his grave.
In yet another tweet at 4am, Trump stated his intention to imprison American citizens who burn the American flag and is even considering stripping them of their citizenship.
Nobody should be allowed to burn the American flag – if they do, there must be consequences – perhaps loss of citizenship or year in jail!

Of course, doing such a thing would violate the First Amendment because burning the flag is a form of expression protected by the Constitution and has been settled law for a quarter century.
And Twitter users were quick to blast Trump for it.
@realDonaldTrump Are you trolling us? As President, you will be required to uphold the U.S. Constitution, including the First Amendment.

While it’s tacky, @realDonaldTrump, it’s covered under the First Amendment. Please read the Constitution. https://t.co/zWVlOXAx1C

@realDonaldTrump if you arrest someone for burning the flag, you may as well burn the constitution. That’s just a fact.

@realDonaldTrump Justice Scalia, whose seat you want to fill on the Supreme Court, disagrees with you big time. https://t.co/nPfLebU0Wc

@realDonaldTrump Flag burning is totally constitutional — it’s been settled law for more than a quarter century. https://t.co/59eFAWa2uk

Donald Trump just demonstrated again that he is totally unfit to be president. At what point will Americans decide that Trump should be forced out? He is too dangerous to be allowed in the Oval Office and things will only get worse if the American people do nothing.
Trump is LITERALLY talking about imprisoning Americans for exercising their rights. That’s a serious violation of the Constitution. Allowing him to be inaugurated would just pave the way for Republicans to rip up the Bill of Rights as they please. That can’t be allowed to happen.
