Donald Trump is delusional and conservatives are too stupid to not believe everything he tells them.
In the wake of the Supreme Court ruling 5-3 to strike down Texas’ unconstitutional anti-abortion law, the Republican nominee claimed that if he were president his replacement for deceased Justice Antonin Scalia would have swung the vote the other way in favor of conservatives. Because 4 is somehow a bigger number than 5 now.
Right-wing radio host Mike Gallagher whined about the decision, which would have shuttered any clinic without an ambulatory surgical center and any clinic whose doctors do not have admitting privileges to a hospital, only for Trump to interrupt and claim that he would have magically reversed the ruling.
“Now if we had Scalia was living or if Scalia was replaced by me you wouldn’t have had that. Okay? It would have been the opposite,” Trump declared.
Trump then warned that conservatives can expect to lose abortion cases all the time if Hillary Clinton becomes president because she’ll get to nominate justices to fill empty seats that arise in the high court. Indeed, the next president could very well fill four vacancies over the next four to eight years.
Gallagher asked Trump to promise that a Supreme Court under his administration will rule against a woman’s right to choose if he is elected, which means he would enact a litmus test for potential Supreme Court candidates.
“So just to confirm, under a Donald — a President Donald Trump-appointed Supreme Court, you wouldn’t see a majority ruling like the one we had with the Texas abortion law this week,” Gallagher asked.
“No, you wouldn’t see that,” Trump assured.

Even if a conservative had replaced Scalia to get the Court back to a full bench of nine it wouldn’t have affected the outcome. Scalia himself would have dissented but it would still be a 5-4 victory for women instead of the 5-3 victory earlier this week.
I know Donald Trump has a hard time figuring out whether he is worth $10 billion or less, but we are talking about single digit numbers here. Any toddler knows that 5 is greater than 4 and it’s concerning that Trump can’t do the simple math to know that an extra judge on the current bench would not have mattered.
But once again, Trump is promising way more than he can actually deliver and conservatives are just eating it up. Maybe his math skills will improve on Election Day so he can properly concede to Hillary Clinton when the vote tally reveals that most Americans decided not to vote for him and his bullshit.
