At least President Obama really cared about victims of natural disasters. Donald Trump only cares about himself.
During his recent and brief visit to Texas after Hurricane Harvey and the massive flooding, Trump made the trip about himself by holding a rally instead of meeting with people who are suffering because of the storm.
“What a crowd, what a turnout,” Trump bragged after calling his FEMA administrator Brock Long “famous”.
Trump reportedly viewed the devastation from the air, but did not personally view any of it on the ground, nor did he get anywhere near the disaster zone, choosing to stay far away from it like the coward he is. Instead, Trump went somewhere much safer to be cheered by people in order to get favorable photo-ops.
In all, Trump spent only three hours on the ground on Tuesday and he quickly veered away from victims and volunteers.
Trump then proceeded to lie about his visit by claiming to have personally witnessed the destruction.
After witnessing first hand the horror & devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey,my heart goes out even more so to the great people of Texas!

Many were quick to compare Trump’s behavior to that shown by President Obama in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
When President Obama visited the region affected by that storm, he hugged victims and surveyed the destruction, whereas Trump only offered praise for himself. After Hurricane Sandy, President Obama gave victims a shoulder to cry on, as this example demonstrates.
What a contrast. This is Obama after Sandy.

In fact, Trump’s behavior is far different than his predecessors. Not only did President Obama hug and console victims of natural disasters, but so did President George W. Bush and President Bill Clinton.

Trump’s lack of empathy and sympathy for the victims of Hurricane Harvey shows an utter lack of character and leadership as he continues to see lower approval ratings. His inability to act like a compassionate human being will likely cause his numbers to crater even further as calls for his impeachment rise.
Hurricane Harvey was a test for Trump, and he failed it miserably. He was slow to act and didn’t care enough about the victims to even meet with them. That’s a lack of leadership and humanity that no American should forgive.
