Gov. Sam Brownback failed Kansas. He turned the state into an economic crap hole but Donald Trump named Brownback as an adviser on agriculture policy. In June of this year, Brownback, in a quest to solve the budget crisis which he caused, called for prayer and fasting. Brownback also spoke at a Christian raindance type of get together. The Kansas Governor offered a prayer, thanking God for the rain that fell in Topeka and asked for more in drought-stricken areas of the state.
His newest advisers are:
Gov. Sam Brownback and U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts, both Republicans, have joined Trump’s agricultural advisory committee, a board that will convene on a regular basis to inform Trump.
“The members of my agricultural advisory committee represent the best that America can offer to help serve agricultural communities,” Trump said on Tuesday. “Many of these officials have been elected by their communities to solve the issues that impact our rural areas every day.”
SURE, Trump surrounds himself with the best minds. While Kansas spiraled into a deeper budget hole, Brownback made it worse by refusing to raise taxes. He was the tea party experiment gone wrong. Instead of fixing the problem he caused, he said, “God came to me in a dream and told me that if the state prayed and fasted for 24 hours, we would solve our financial problems.”
“The governor looks forward to sharing the important role agriculture plays in contributing to the growth of the American economy,” said Eileen Hawley, Brownback’s spokeswoman. “We appreciate that the Trump campaign recognizes our knowledge of agricultural economics.”
During the weekend, Brownback spoke in California to commemorate President Ronald Reagan’s 1981 tax cuts.
Riiight, those tax cuts for the rich are what helped to sink Kansas.
When asked if he endorses Trump over the weekend, he said, “I have. He wasn’t my first pick. I was a Rubio guy because I really want to win this cycle and Hillary (Clinton) is adamantly beatable, she really is, and I thought he had the best package to be able to do this with.”
Brownback praised Trump’s choice of Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as a running mate. That’s further proof that Brownback is always wrong.
As for Brownback’s prayers, they didn’t work. Kansas is suffering from a 290 million hole in the budget.
