For a guy who wants us to think he’s innocent, Trump sure does look pretty guilty after this rare sit-down with one of his most hated “fake news” publications.
In an interview with the New York Times on Thursday, Trump was his usual demented self – talking in circles and basically digging himself deeper and deeper into the hole that special counsel Robert Mueller would no doubt love to bury him in.
After telling the Times how “fair” he thought Mueller would be with regard to the investigation into his (obvious) collusion with Russia, Trump screwed himself and said:
Even if there was [collusion], it’s not a crime.”
The fake president then went on to praise his attorney, Alan Dershowitz, who must get paid a shit ton of money in order to keep quiet, and then told the Times:
I watched Alan Dershowitz the other day, he said, ‘No. 1, there is no collusion,’ ‘No. 2, collusion is not a crime, but even if it was a crime, there was no collusion,’ and he said that very strongly. He said there was no collusion. And he has studied this thing very closely. I’ve seen him a number of times.”
There is no collusion, and even if there was, it’s not a crime but there’s no collusion.”
He can’t be serious…. How many times does he have to repeat “even if there was, it’s not a crime?” But that’s the natural progression of statements for Trump and even his supporters: It didn’t happen, or if it did happen, there was nothing wrong with it.
Does he really think we are buying this line of bullshit?
Unfortunately for both Trump and Dershowitz, “collusion” is not likely what Mueller will be nailing the president with. In addition to the obstruction of justice he’s clearly committed multiple times, not to mention witness intimidation and tampering, the actual charge related to collusion that Trump will likely face is “conspiracy against the United States,” which most definitely is a crime. That would not only be grounds for impeachment, but could add 5 years to whatever time the obstruction charges get him.
But, wait… There’s more…
Not to be outdone by his own dumbassery, Trump also found time to rip into special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, saying that it “makes the country look very bad.”
It puts the country in a very bad position, so the sooner it’s worked out, the better it is for the country.”
We agree, Mr. Trump. The sooner this investigation proves your guilt, the better.
