After flat-out telling your “Second Amendment people” to assassinate a former First Lady, Secretary of State, and presidential candidate, it’s generally not a good idea to portray her as a founder of another group you tell your fans to kill. But Donald Trump did exactly that on Wednesday at a rally in Sunrise, Florida.
“ISIS is honoring President Obama,” Trump told his rabid fans. “He is the founder of ISIS. He is the founder of ISIS, OK? He’s the founder. He founded ISIS. And I would say the co-founder would be crooked Hillary Clinton.”
Sure, it’s bad enough that he would portray a sitting President and his political opponent as people who started a terrorist group, but if we look back to December, what he was really saying was that Obama, Clinton, and their entire families should die.
“We’re fighting a very politically correct war,” Trump said. “And the other thing is with the terrorists, you have to take out their families. They, they care about their lives. Don’t kid yourself. But they say they don’t care about their lives. You have to take out their families.”
So, let’s get this straight: Obama and Clinton are terrorists — the founders of one of the worst groups in the world. Terrorists and their families should die. Goodbye, Malia and Sasha. Farewell, Bill. All of them should be murdered to get to the masterminds behind ISIS.
Add this to the numerous calls for both of their deaths from the Right over the years, and it is clear what Trump meant — just like it was when Trump told his followers that Clinton is coming for their guns and that “Second Amendment People” have a solution to the problem. Trump’s rhetoric has not changed. He is simply being more careful since the multiple conversations his campaign has had with the Secret Service following his death threats.
ISIS formed in 1999 and became active in 2004 — both before Obama was President and Clinton was Secretary of State. But facts don’t matter to Trump nor his fans. And as we have seen from the many, many minorities brutalized at his rallies on Trump’s command, all he has to do is point and they will do what he says — in this case, assassinating Hillary Clinton and her terrorist allies.
Will Trump go to jail for his direct and indirect threats? The jury is still out on that. According to Trump, stories of him meeting with the Secret Service were “made up by ‘low-ratings’ CNN. Of course, the Secret Service says differently.
All we truly know is that if you or I had made those remarks, we’d be having a very frank discussion with some men in suits about committing a felony.
Recently, Trump asked Russia to hack Clinton and promised they would be “greatly rewarded” if they did so, a clear sign that he has no problem taking the sort of action against his enemies we typically see dictators would take. How far will he go to win the election?
Why is The Donald seemingly untouchable? You tell me.
