If Donald Trump’s recent threats to North Korea over the last few days haven’t terrified you enough, what he said today will make you speechless. After load of reckless Twitter activity aimed at North Korea, today Trump took a little break from his golf vacation to send another irresponsible warning to the regime.
Standing before reporters at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, Trump told reporters that perhaps the threat of ‘fire and fury’ he’d made on Tuesday ‘wasn’t tough enough.’ Trump said:
They’ve been doing this to our country for a long time, for many years. And it’s about time that somebody stuck up for this country and for the people of other countries. So, if anything, maybe that statement wasn’t tough enough.”
Trump’s original statement on Tuesday, in reaction to reports that North Korea could fit a miniature nuclear warhead onto a missile, was this:
North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States. They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen.”
Ever since then, Trump has been tweeting and threatening North Korea and creating even more tension in the unpleasant relationship. North Korea is already fed up with Trump and has called his comments ‘nonsense’. North Korea’s official statement on the situation claimed that it intended to go through with planning its attack on Guam and referred to Trump when it said:
Such a guy bereft of reason and only absolute force can work on him.”
You can imagine that only a president as incompetent and insecure as Trump would continue to poke at a situation like this, but this is who the GOP and brainless conservative voters elected to lead this country.
