A visit to a church in Detroit by El Trumpacabra has netted a local taco truck a windfall of profits. While Trump may be billing himself as a great “job creator” the part he never planned on was being the punching bag for a joke that may end up being great news for your local mobile Mexican food vendor.
The Tacos El Caballo truck set up shop right outside of Great Faith Ministries International, where Trump was giving a speech about how much he loves black folks when he needs them to vote for him (they still won’t), and it ended up being one of their best days ever.
Nancy Paz, who immigrated from Mexico, told Michigan Public Radio that she and her family parked the truck next to Trump’s gathering in hopes that he would see them there and realize that they aren’t actually destroying the nation as he claimed.
The Paz family was accompanied indirectly in their efforts to shame Trump with a slew of protesters that also were present in the area at the time. Many signs that read “Dump Trump” among other things were seen among the crowd.
In perhaps the ultimate irony, the candidate that has made his entire campaign about people blaming minorities and immigrants for every single problem from flat tires to crotch rot — while receiving more open endorsements from white supremacists than any candidate since segregation was still a thing — actually quoted a the Bibles’ 1 John, Chapter 4, about how we all have to “love each other.”
Something tells me that he has that ass-backwards and what he thinks it means is, “We all have to love Donald.”
Perhaps Trump is right. Maybe we will have small, indie food trucks serving up proper Mexican food within a short walk of our homes. It could actually go down in history as the greatest campaign promise ever if it were to come true. Personally, I hope it does.
