Earlier today, one of Donald Trump’s top aides, advisor Stephen Miller, had a major meltdown on State of the Union with Jake Tapper as the CNN host tried to question him about the president.
While Tapper was forced to end the interview early due to the erratic, aggressive temper tantrum that Miller threw in his defense of the president, Tapper was at least able to get Miller to mess up and give up a vital piece of information in the Trump-Russia investigation.
During the interview, Tapper asked Miller if Trump had ever met with any Russians. Miller’s response was shocking, as the Trump advisor attacked CNN, Tapper, and Michael Wolff’s “Fire and Fury” book — but refused to deny that Trump had met with Russians during his campaign. Miller said:
It’s tragic and unfortunate that Steve would make these grotesque comments out of touch reality and so vindictive and the whole White House staff is deeply disappointed in his comments which were grotesque and with respect to the Trump Tower meeting he’s talking about, he wasn’t there when this went down, so he’s not a credible source on any of it. It reads Luke an angry vindictive person spouting out to a highly discredible author. The book is a poorly written fiction. I also will say the author is a garbage author of a garbage book. The tragic thing about this book and there are many things that are unfortunate but the portrayal of the president in the book is so contrary to reality, to the experience of those who work with him, to my own experience having spent the last two years with him.”
Sometimes what was not said is more important than what actually comes out. Not once in Miller’s rant is there a denial that Trump met with Russians — which Miller could have very easily answered “no” to. But that’s not what he did.
Once again, Trump’s team has made the president look more guilty than ever by dodging questions and going off on unrelated tangents. Clearly, Trump and his White House have something to hide and the more Trump has his minions try and cover it up, the more they fail him. Miller has done a major disservice to Trump in this interview, and it’s going to come back to haunt him.
