Because Donald Trump epically failed at getting many prominent Republicans to speak at his Republican National Convention in Cleveland this week, he was forced to go to more unconventional options to fill those spots. One of the people to speak just happened to be United Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White, who spoke on Tuesday night and gave a truly dumbfounding reason for why he was supporting the business mogul in his quest for the White House.
White took the stage and made it very clear that he was a “fight promoter,” not a politician. From that opening sentence alone, it was already becoming clear that he and Trump had a lot in common, and it’s no wonder why Trump would appeal to White. When speaking about his justification for endorsing such an awful candidate, White narrowed it down to the fact that Trump had supported him in his “bloodsport” before anyone else had seen the value in UFC fighting and his “business instincts.” White said:
On top of that, he showed up for the fight on Saturday night and sat in the front row. Yeah. He is that guy that shows up.
Proving that he’s probably just as delusional as Trump himself, White actually said that Trump had superior business instincts and supports “businesses of all sizes” – which perhaps suggests that White hasn’t been paying attention to the numerous lawsuits Trump is currently in, one of them being a massive lawsuit involving thousands of people suing the business mogul for his fraudulent Trump University. Not to mention, those great “business instincts” have been responsible for many failed companies and endeavors, which Trump has repeatedly denied throughout his campaign.
Lastly, White’s other reason for supporting Trump was to support a fellow “fighter.” White said:
Let’s be honest, we need someone who believes in this country, who is proud of this country and who will fight for this country. Let me tell you something. I’ve been in the fight business my whole life. I know fighters. Ladies and gentleman, Donald Trump is a fighter and I know he will fight for this country.
Trump is definitely a “fighter,” but not the kind of fighter America needs. Throughout his campaign, Trump has proven himself to be the most emotionally volatile, mentally unstable, violence-loving candidate modern America has ever seen. With his racist, misogynistic and hateful rhetoric, Trump has not only worked to divide America and encourage people to be at each other’s throats, but he’s also been a massive promoter of violence at his rallies. And let’s not forget about the time Trump promised to pay the legal fees of any supporters that roughed up protesters, or the time that Trump threatened to beat up a protester himself. Considering all of these things, White’s speech perfectly describes Trump, but not in a flattering way at all.
You can watch part of White’s speech below:
Trump does not have America’s best interests at heart and he seeks to further separate us. He doesn’t want to fight for a better America, he wants to fight for himself.
