You’ve already seen it on the internet a hundred times, but I’ll repeat it here because it bears repeating: If your “side” lost the war for the soul of our country, but you still wave a Confederate flag, you never get to use the phrase “get over it.” Ever. You’d think that was common sense, but then, folks who wave Confederate flags have never been accused of having too much sense. And a bunch of those senseless morons showed up Wednesday in Hollywood, Florida to try and “save” some racist street signs that residents want changed.
Outside City Hall in Hollywood, protesters have become nearly as permanent a fixture as the signs they want removed. And who can blame them? The streets are named after Confederate military commanders Robert E. Lee, John Bell Hood, and Nathan Bedford Forrest — all pro-slavery assholes, but most especially Forrest who was the first grand wizard of the KKK. Hardly namesakes you want represented in your town.
“Trump! Trump! Trump!”
That’s the chant that took shape when the white supremacist counter-protesters, decked out in League Of The South apparel and flags, finally decided on something besides “LOSERS!” and “Blue lives matter!” Some of the Trump fans were regulars at the events, including one guy who has been photographed at seemingly all the “social justice” events he can find. Here he is at Wednesday’s protest, with a League Of The South flag:
Or maybe you think that picture is a little too grainy. How about this one, that showcases his logo-emblazoned shirt:

Here he is in April, showing support for Florida State Senator Frank Artiles after he used the N-word in front of a black colleague — note the neo-Nazi pin on his lapel:

He was also photographed with a regular old Confederate flag at the Miami climate march a few days later.
But that douchebag is indicative of a commitment to racist principles that has only intensified since the election of Donald Trump, especially in the South. The Miami New Times took a sampling of a larger, nationwide study from ProPublica to look at more than 160 reported hate crimes in the Miami area. Of those, a quarter of victims reported that their attacker(s) specifically mentioned Donald Trump during the attack.
But Trump supporters are totally not racist at all, you guys.
I guess you can decide for yourself:
