People know what bullshit smells like, so when Idaho Rep. Raul Labrador opened his mouth his constituents booed what was coming out.
On Thursday, House Republicans had beer delivered to the Capitol so they could drink in celebration of stripping healthcare from millions of Americans and sentencing thousands of Americans to death.
The Trumpcare bill will allow insurance companies to throw people off their insurance coverage and to price people out of the market. This is especially true for senior citizens, whose health insurance premiums are expected to skyrocket if the Affordable Care Act is repealed.
House Republicans then went to the White House to celebrate in the Rose Garden with Donald Trump.
It was a disgusting display. Lawmakers literally celebrated taking healthcare away from the American people. Even Joe Scarborough expressed his disgust over the sickening affair.
And now Republicans know how their own constituents feel.
Because during a town hall event in Idaho on Friday, the people who are represented by Rep. Raul Labrador mercilessly booed him and shouted him down after he made the ridiculous claim that people don’t die because of a lack of healthcare.
A woman in the crowd stepped up and told Labrador that she is concerned about all the people who will be faced with dying because the Republican bill kicks them off Medicaid. That’s when Labrador spewed bullshit directly out of his mouth.
“That line is so indefensible,” Labrador claimed. “Nobody dies because they don’t have access to health care.”
The audience gasped in shock and anger.
Here’s the video via YouTube.
The fact is, however, that people do die from lack of healthcare.
A Harvard study found that as many as 45,000 Americans die every year from lack of healthcare. Even if 45,000 is inaccurate, Labrador is wrong to say that “no one” dies from not having access to healthcare.
Prior to the Affordable Care Act, millions of Americans couldn’t afford health insurance and they certainly couldn’t afford out-of-pocket medical care. Basically, they had to wait until their health issues became an emergency before seeking expensive treatment at the emergency room. And now Republicans have passed a bill that will once again make health insurance and medical care inaccessible to millions. And that means certain death for thousands.
And when people start dying, Republicans who voted for this bill should be charged with murder. Period.
