With alleged president Donald Trump plagued with scandals, the White House is in panic mode because they know the former reality show star is screwed.
A Trump administration official told The Daily Beast that the scandals have caused chaos which he or she described as having a “numbing effect.” White House staffers and senior Trump aides are dealing with one crisis after another.
“I feel like running down the hallway with a fire extinguisher,” one senior Trump administration official said after the bombshell memo from former FBI Director James Comey was revealed on Tuesday.
“Every time I feel like we’re getting a handle on the last Russia fiasco, a new one pops,” a White House staffer said on Monday before the Comey memo.
However, on Tuesday, after reports of the Comey memo, the staffer said, “I guess I was wrong about the timing. We can’t even wrap up one Russia fiasco before we’re on to the next one.”
This is why Trump doesn’t like leaks:
A senior official in the Trump administration, who previously worked on the president’s campaign, offered a candid and brief assessment of the fallout from that string of bad press: ‘I don’t see how Trump isn’t completely fucked.'”
Former FBI Director James Comey is known to leave a paper trail and he did just that. It was revealed on Tuesday that, according to Comey’s memo, Trump sought to shut down the investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn during an Oval Office visit in February. Comey took notes of the conversation.
According to Comey’s memo, Trump told him, “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.”
This scandal follows Trump’s last blunder in which he revealed highly classified intelligence from a U.S. ally to Russian officials. And that scandal follows Trump firing the very man who was leading an investigation into his administration’s (alleged) ties to Russia. That man is James Comey and he’s not bending over to grab his ankles for Donald Trump.
