Trump’s campaign is likely beyond the point of no return; he’s going to lose and no amount of fake email hype is going to save him. But the deluded billionaire and sexual predator cannot take no for an answer (surprise right?). Trump claims, despite having literally no evidence, that some of the emails found on Anthony Weiner’s laptop were from the 33k missing emails from Clinton’s server.
Just for some context, Anthony Weiner, the former Representative from New York, is married to Clinton’s vice campaign chair Huma Abedin. The two are separated now, but before Weiner’s sexting disaster they shared a home and likely used each other’s laptops. To say that some emails from Hilary Clinton wound up on his laptop isn’t that shocking.
Furthermore we know that the FBI hasn’t even looked at these emails yet and doesn’t even have a warrant to do so. So exactly what is in these emails is still far from certain. In all likelihood, it’s just a bunch of early information from Clinton’s campaign aspirations. Keep in mind that Abedin was involved with Clinton’s campaign, not her work as Secretary of State. So there’s virtually no chance that anything from these emails is confidential. In fact, Clinton has called on the FBI to release any information they might have before the election.
When Fox Pundit and Trump Campaign surrogate Jason Miller tried to float this nonsense on MSNBC though he got an earful. He claimed that the FBI “clearly found something remarkable.” Again, he’s just going on a vague arguement about how the FBI director would never do anything to upset the direction of the campaign rather than actual evidence. Katy Tur reminded him that his strong claims ultimately rest on zero evidence, since the investigation hasn’t even looked at any emails yet.
